We now have both elliptical machines working!

Both the Nautilus and now the Natural Runner ellipticals are now fully functional! We are thrilled and know many of you will be too. Thank you also for your patience as we worked to get the heating unit working. The problem has been repaired and it's definitely a little less noisy. We also want to thank all of our members for their understanding with recent varying staffing hours. We hope to return to a more consistent schedule for the next couple of weeks. We will have some varied hours again in March but look for April on to return to more consistent times again. Thank you in advance for your patience with this. We hope you are all enjoying some of the new additions we have had over the past months and look to continue with this as our membership grows. We are so proud of all of you, our members, your committment to health, and support you have given us.

We always welcome your comments and suggestions so keep them coming! Special thanks to Lon for his patience between posts!

The elliptical is working!!! I am delinquent

The new Nautilus elliptical is now working. Come on in and give it a try! We are moving into week 5 of slimdown and everyone is progressing well. We are now on Facebook too. Join the Hometown Fitness Group for updates.

We are looking at starting a 5K race some time in the late spring or early summer. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more.

My title is fitting. I have a lot of excuses as to why it has been so long since my last post. None of them are good enough. Currently I'm on the road for work. This is the most challenging thing when you are trying to manage weight, especially when you are surrounded by so many different options. I've managed to maintain, not lose weight. My journaling is poor and I'm still not drinking water. I am motivated to get up each day and exercise, so that is one thing I'm hanging on. I'm hoping that I can get out of the slump! Tomorrow is a new day, so I'll start again.

Sorry, the elliptical is still not up and working.

We continue to thank you for your patience. We hoped to get a new elliptical in and unfortunately it didn't happen.

We did get some new towels and hope to continue to change them out as we get new ones.

So here it is my journal from last week, clearly I wasn't going for weight loss. I'm working on it. I can't resist the sweet tooth lately. I did get in 5 days of running and 2 days weight lifting.

Mon Toast and PB, Pizza, Pizza
Tues Toast and PB, Turkey Sub, Mac and Cheese
Wed Toast and PB, Pizza, Mac and Cheese
Thurs Toast and PB, Pizza, Noodles and sauce
Fri Bagel and Cream Cheese, Fish Sand, Macaroni
Sat Toast and PB, Bread, Crab Ravioli
Sun 100 Calorie packs (2) Pizza, choc chip cookies (6)
Mon Tuna Melt, Ravioli, 100 calorie pack

I can't take it anymore, the snow, that is!

Okay business first, the new elliptical is en route even as I write this post. We are so excited to bring in another much needed piece of equipment. I'll post more details when we get it here and it is ready to use. In addition to that we have a 6lb medicine ball per a member suggestion. Our hope is to get a complete set in future months. Keep checking back for more new items!

We are coming to the end of our first week of Hometown Slim Down. At last count we have 20 members in the running for the weekly prizes as well as the grand prize. You are all looking great and we can see how committed you are to a healthy lifestyle, keep up the good work.

I have decided that I need the accountability of journaling and am going to add it to the blog per a conversation with two members tonight. So, beginning next week I'm posting my weekly weigh in, food journal along with water intake. All of these are things that helped me lose 50lbs in 1999. I think I'll eat that dozen cookies tonight before Monday comes. Just Kidding!

So here's my excuse for not exercising like I have been this week (except Tuesday and today) I actually used to like snow. In fact I skied and ice skated all through elementary and high school. Only a little bit in college. This year I think the snow is deliberately trying to sabotage my exercise efforts. I dread the extra 15-20 minutes of prepping the car before I go workout. I will get out of this slump, I have to, I have no "big girl" pants left. I got rid of them so I wouldn't be tempted to just slip back into that size.

Resolution wise I'm doing so so. I'm about 3 out of 5 days on my 4 cups of veggies and fruits per day. I am blogging, be it only once a week. I will likely stick to once a week. With the addition of my journaling the pressure will help me keep it up. I have done the best with reading each night instead of watching TV and yes, I am proud to report that my hands are holding the book, not a cookie!

1 down, 364 to go.

Happy New Year Everyone. It is hard to believe that 2008 is over and 2009 is already about 18 hours underway. What an amazing year it was. So much has happened in these last few months. We feel very lucky to have had this exciting opportunity and look forward to growing the business in the year to come. We are planning on replacing the elliptical machine in the coming weeks and appreciate your patience as we work on making that happen.

Don't forget Hometown Slim Down starts Monday. Check out the message board as well as the website for events and other information.
